First disability civil rights law in the US. Prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in programs that receive federal financial assistance–protecting adults and children with disabilities from exclusion and unequal treatment in schools, jobs, and the community.

The primary law governing accessibility in the US, and referenced by many governments across the globe as well. Outgrowth of Section 504 with broader scope, but may not cover all the same things as 504 (especially in regards to education–which can also be covered by IDEA.)
